7 Things Everyone Knows About How to Clean Artificial Grass That You Don’t

If you want to increase the life span of your artificial turf, the foremost thing to learn is how to maintain it. Artificial grass has many advantages over natural grass, for instance, artificial grass doesn’t need mowing, watering or the use of fertilizers. Artificial Turf is also very easy to maintain, just some regular, simple upkeep is needed to maintain it. Here are some tricks and tips on how to clean your garden turf.

1.Removal of debris with a Leaf Blower :

A leaf blower can help you in quickly cleaning your turf from all the debris such as leaves falling in autumn or a branch fallen after a strong gush of wind or storm. With the help of a leaf blower, blow all the debris towards one corner of your lawn. Once all debris has been collected, you can now remove it entirely.

2.Rinsing the Artificial Turf with Garden Hose :

Rinsing the turf will help you in cleaning your turf from dust or spill. With the help of a garden hose, you can rinse your entire turf. Do not apply too much water pressure as doing that can damage your turf for the garden.

3.Using Broom or Rake to Brush the Turf :

Brushing your synthetic turf will help in keeping the grass blades pointed upwards which helps in bestowing a more appealing look to your turf! Make sure to use a brush with soft bristles. You can also use a broom or a rake as it makes it easier for you to cover the whole garden quickly. Make sure to brush in the same direction.

4.Treating Spills and Stains :

• Using paper towels to blot liquid spills :

Spilled liquids can be cleaned up via paper towels. The majority of the spill can be cleaned solely by the use of paper towels. Just be careful not to rub the liquid into your grass. Using gentle actions, blot up the spilled liquid. If you act quickly when the spill happens, the cleaning process gets much easier.

• Using a solution of granular detergent and water for cleaning Stains:

Start by mixing a pint of detergent and a teaspoon of water in a bowl or a container, whichever is easier for you to carry around. You can also use a bucket for this. Next, use a soft cloth or sponge to rub this solution onto the stain until the stain disappears. Once the stain is removed, use a garden hose to wash away the detergent. The detergent solution is mild which won’t cause any damage to your synthetic turf. This method is best for removing stains caused by coffee, ice cream or alcohol.

• Scrapping off sticky residues with a Knife :

If you’re dealing with sticky gum, paint, lipstick or crayon residue, you can just gently scrap it off the grass. Just be careful as not to cut off the grass as you scrape. Don’t scrape across the grass rather follow the grass upwards with the knife to successfully scrape off the mess.

• Removal of solid debris using Mineral Spirits :

Start by soaking a soft cloth or sponge in mineral spirits. Next, gently wipe off the soiled blades of your turf. Make sure that while cleaning with mineral spirits, the solution doesn’t go past the grass blades and beneath the turf as this can result is serious damage to your artificial grass. Also make sure to take necessary precautions when dealing with mineral solutions, such as wearing gloves, as the solution can cause skin irritation. Make sure to wear a respirator as the mineral solution can produce toxic fumes.
