What You Can Do To Maintain Your Artificial Lawn Turf [Artificial Lawn Caring Tips]

People are looking for landscapes that are usually low in maintenance and don't use up much water. And as those requirements are gradually building up the quality of artificial turf has risen considerably. So most homeowners prefer artificial grass for its ability and despite it has low maintenance. Artificial grass is an alternative to a real lawn so many people believe that it doesn't require any maintenance.

Many people like to have an artificial grass garden outside their house but they don't know how to take proper care of their garden, they think they will just install the artificial grass and their job is done but this is not true even an artificial turf requires a little care. While artificial grass needs a lot less care and maintenance than natural grass, grooming it regularly will help extend its life and keep it looking as natural as possible. Before you purchase the artificial turf, make sure to ask your fake grass supplier for samples so you can get a rough idea before purchasing. If you are ready to take care of your synthetic turf then below are some points on how you can maintain your artificial turf.

1) Have The Right Equipment

To regularly maintain and care for your artificial turf, you will need to make sure that you have proper essential equipment. You'll need first and foremost a house if the area you are living in receives less rain frequently, this is less of a necessity, but still helpful in rinsing the grass.

A leaf bowler is also helpful, or a lawn vacuum for removing the fallen leaves. A rake is also helpful to keep the fibers of the grass fresh and unmatted. Most of these tools can be bought at cheap prices, so even if you don't have these in your garden shed you don't have to spend a lot of money.

2) Take Care Post the Installation

Following the installation, you're compelled to see the excess sand on the base of the turf. This is very normal because during the installation lot of digging happens to flat out the base so there is a slightly higher chance sand can be on top of the surface of artificial turf the only way you can remove the sand is by sweeping it out with the fiber broom.

3) Always Keep The Turf Clean

Debris dirt and dust can assemble on the turf and make it look unappealing over time. As such cleaning, the turf, regularly is very important. You can use a lawn sweeper, or garden vacuum, to clear the turf off fallen leaves and dirt.

4) Tend To The Turf As Needed

Tending fake grass once in three months is recommended, but if you have pets and kids playing around on the turf you need to clean your grass more often. In addition to that if anything spills or falls on the grass you need to take action very quickly and clean it up before the stubborn stains remain on the turf.

5) Brush Regularly

As natural grass blades stand upright same goes for artificial turf as well. Keep in mind that even your artificial turf can bend gradually with time, so only the way to keep your lawn looking natural is to brush it regularly. You can use a rigid brush to keep your blades aligned upright.

Avoid using a brush with metal bristles as doing so can damage the grass. Make sure to brush with enough force, applying less pressure won't make much difference to the blade, and applying too much pressure can make the lawn look uneven. If you have artificial grass installed over a large area, brushing it regularly may not be possible, in such a case just brush over a high-traffic area.

6) Rinse Frequently

Artificial turf can be rinsed with water as needed to get rid of debris and dirt. You can use a little detergent on especially dirty spots and hose down the turf with water.

7) Use Weedicides

Weeds can grow even after the installation of artificial turf. So instead of waiting for weeds to grow on your turf and causing further damage, be careful and treat your turf to weedicides once in a while.

8) Don't Worry About The Heat

If the harsh sun beating down on your turf worries you, you need to know that the quality of the turf won't affect you. If you are still worried you can use a hosepipe down the area with water to cool off the turf.

Before planning to install the artificial turf the first thing that comes to people's minds is how to lay artificial grass but no need to worry because it is a very easy process and less time-consuming and cost-effective compared to a real lawn. A second most important thing to remember is to purchase good quality turf so you don't have to worry about getting damaged.
